About 1000Frogs, your host and why membership is free
Hi, I am the Founder of 1000frogs Pete.
Membership is free is because I am single and looking for someone to settle down with to start a family. So are most of my friends including my friend Barb, the Hostess! I joined a lot of on-line dating services and none of them got me any dates. I also joined more than one non-computer dating service and, while I had lots of dates none of them were what I was looking for or visa versa. A lot of my pals, both men and women, were reporting the same problem. In short, I decided I could do a better job myself.
To start 1000frogs I went to eBay and purchased the dating site e-matchfinder.com. It was definitely a much stripped down site, had no members (surprise!) and was not very interesting. I started making changes to it. The most important change is to ask the questions that I thought were important. None of those stupid, “If you were stranded on an island what one thing would you bring with you?”. First of all, no one plans on being stranded on an island so you don't get to pick. Second, I want the island, to be Manhattan with a four star hotel. Finally, the one thing I would pick is a working cell phone. None of those were ever choices. Dumb, dumb, dumb!
I also needed a theme. So far, I figured I am getting close to having kissed a thousand frogs, so one of them should turn into a princess soon. A fairy tale theme is great. It reminds me of Walt Disney World in Florida, which is a place I like. I am associating happy things with this new project. A good omen. It also means that folks who get into it can collect froggie stuff. There are some really cute frog themed humorous miniature statues in the local dollar stores. Since I have no intention of selling frog themed coffee cups, golf balls, car seat warmers and other junk this works out well. Tons of stuff, low cost, no shipping and I don't have to do anything.
Speaking of Florida, I thought it was time to speak with Rich, who not only lived in Florida but is also your Host. Since he also knows about the bad luck of some dating services, it was time to talk. One thing Rich brought up is the “hidden costs” of dating services. He said that some on-line services may be better known, they can also be VERY EXPENSIVE. After hearing his advice, thought it was time for him to come on board with 1000frogs.
Next, I needed to make sure single women would join. That is where my friend Barb comes in. You may not know this but she is a single woman! Hard to believe that someone like her didn't get snapped, up but that's life. Anyway, she agreed to come on board as the official hostess. Her job is to make sure the site meets the needs of single women, like her. In fact, she helped write all of the questions on the site.
I wanted to offset some of the costs associated with running the site. I didn't feel like paying for all of it out of pocket. Fortunately, one of the companies I am associated with decided to take over the project, and attempt to make it self sufficient by selling advertising. I personally don't care if you buy anything or not ,but the advertisers are who is paying for everything. The other advantage is that once I find my princess I was going to get rid of the site. This way if the site turns a profit for the company, that will keep it going long after I lose interest.
I also needed a plan. I don't think computer dating works too well by itself. I think it has to be supplemented with "meet and greet" type events. I have a lot of experience negotiating hotel contracts so I decided that 1000frogs would work out deals with local hotels and restaurants, which in turn would sponsor events for the members. That and picnics in the park. Valley Forge, Pennsylvania is the local park for me, but Central Park in NYC is not off limits! Expect most of the events to be in the greater Philadelphia area.
At this point, you should understand why this site exists. You may also be thinking, "How can I repay Pete for making this great site available". That is simple! Tell all of your single friends to join. Provide links from your personal web site back to 1000frogs.com. The more links there is to the site, the higher the relevancy rating in search engines. The higher the rating, the more folks will find us and join. Remember, the goal is to help Pete find his princess but I only want one! The rest are available for you. It's all a numbers game and the larger the numbers the better the chance for all of us.

Before you sign up
- PHOTOS. You should post a photo. Folks without photos get less dates because everyone figures you have something to hide. If you think you are fat don't worry about it. There are lots of folks who don't care. You need to post a recent, good quality color photo. The more photos the better. If you don't have any to upload then go to the Walmart, Wallgreens, CVS or any other photomat. They can take care of it for you.
- LIEING. If you lie on this site then I will kick you off for life. A little white lie, a fib and all other such nonsense is still a lie. Lie to yourself if you want but don't lie here.
- ADVERTISEMENTS. If you post advertisements as a personal I will come after you. Believe me pal, you don't want me after you. I reserve the right to delete anything I want since I am paying the bill, not you.
- WARRANTY. There is no warranty. Everything is provided as-is-where-is.
- KOOKS. I have no way of telling if the person posting is a kook or worse. Use some common sense. Before you meet someone make sure a friend knows where you are going and whom you are meeting. This site records a lot of information about you and I will provide it to police upon request.
- PRIVIACY. There is no privacy here. If you don't want the public to know something then don't say it. This site (like most) records a lot of information about you. Enough that the police or my lawyers can find you if I want. See kooks above.
- SEARCHING. When searching for your mate remember that Clark Gable is dead and Clark Kent never existed. When you are searching don't bother looking for what isn't there. In addition most of the shallow people will be going for the folks that look like fashion models. The other 99% will not be bothered as much. If you are not one of the fashion model types then be grateful they are attracting the fickle people and you don't have to put up with them.
